South Dublin County Council takes first place for HI- South Dublin Healthy County Initiative at the Annual Chambers Ireland, Excellence in Local Government Awards 2016

South Dublin County Council was honoured at the Chambers Ireland Annual Excellence in Local Government Awards which were held on Thursday, 24th November in the Crowne Plaza, Santry with a win in the Health and Wellbeing Category.

In accepting the award, the Mayor of South Dublin County, Councillor Guss O’ Connell commented “This award is in recognition of South Dublin County Council’s aim to improve engagement, participation and the health and wellbeing of all our citizens. The Council has initiated a number of projects under the Health Ireland Initiative to get individuals active and improve the health and wellbeing of our communities. On behalf of all the people of South Dublin I would like to thank the wide number of agencies and individuals, both voluntary and statutory, who got involved. It shows what can be achieved when people work together for the common good.”

Chief Executive, Daniel Mc Loughlin added “These awards recognise the important role played by local authorities in delivering innovative services to their local communities. In particular, I would like to acknowledge all the staff and partner agencies who were involved in the winning project and those whose projects were shortlisted for these awards”
