Knocklyon Network, in partnership with SuperValu Knocklyon, would like to celebrate the people who make a difference in our local community. It might be the group that keeps our green spaces green, or the postman who always has a smile in the morning. We want to hear from you about who you think deserves to be recognised.

Each month one local hero will be selected from your nominations by an independent judging panel. An overall winner will be chosen from the monthly winners by public vote and announced at an awards ceremony in March 2023.

We have partnered with local businesses to supply prizes for our monthly and overall winners.

Local Heroes Awards Terms and Conditions   Note: These Competition Terms and Conditions (the “Rules”) apply to the Local Heroes Awards organised by Knocklyon Network, The Iona Centre, Knocklyon Parish, Knocklyon, Dublin 16. The Competition closing date is the 31st March 2023.

  1. Nominations must be submitted via the nomination form on www.knocklyonnetwork.com. In submitting a nomination you confirm that you have consent on the part of the nominee to do so. Nominees, monthly and overall winners will be notified by phone and/or email.

  2. Responsibility will not be accepted for nominations which are not completed. Nominations which are incomplete (i.e. some information requested on the nomination form is not provided), altered, illegible or not in accordance with these Rules may be disqualified.

  3. An independent judging panel will select the monthly winners. The overall winner will be selected by public vote from the monthly winners. The names of those comprising the judging panel will be made available to Awards entrants on request.

  4. The monthly winners will be selected according to the judging criteria, which include positive impact on the local community.

  5. There will be 6 monthly winners who will receive an award to the value of €100. The overall winner will receive an award to the value of €500.

  6. The decision of the judges will be final and binding on all entrants. Correspondence will be entered into only at the absolute discretion of Knocklyon Network.

  7. All entries will automatically become the property of Knocklyon Network.

  8. The entrants and nominees consent to Knocklyon Network using their personal details to run the Awards. All entrants and nominees agree to the use of their names and addresses and/or photographs for publicity purposes. Entrants and nominees also agree that their names and addresses may be disclosed by Knocklyon Network to its sponsors for the purpose of administering the Awards and/or distributing the prize.

  9. Knocklyon Network committee members are not eligible to be nominated for the Awards and will not be eligible to receive a prize.

  10. Knocklyon Network reserves the right to vary and (or) substitute any/all element(s) of the prize with a prize of similar or of greater value.

  11. The awards are non-transferable.

  12. All entry conditions and instructions are deemed to form part of these rules.

  13. Knocklyon Network accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever in relation to any other matter arising out of these Awards.

  14. Knocklyon Network accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever in relation to any matter arising out of the Awards or the prizes. Insurance and tax are the responsibility of the winners.

  15. Nominees must be 18 years or over at the time of nomination to the awards or they will be ineligible to win a prize. The winners shall, if requested, provide satisfactory proof of age before being awarded the prize.
