For the eight year in succession, South Dublin County Council and our partners Tallaght Stadium, IT Tallaght, PM Group, Vilicom and Xilinx are once again gearing up to celebrate Engineers Week 2016 in Tallaght.

Engineers Week is a week-long programme of events with the aim of celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland.

Kicking off on February 28th and running until March 5th the week offers great opportunities for primary and secondary schools students to learn about Engineering in a fun way with workshops, challenges, quizzes and lectures.

With this year’s theme in mind ‘Engineering for the Future’ we have set the students of South Dublin County a number of challenges to discover, design, build and code.

In the build up to Engineers Week, we set the students of St. Dominic’s National School Tallaght the challenge to design a rooftop restaurant using K’Nex. Working together, the students envisaged and created their own rooftop restaurant – each with their own design and style. The designs made for a very unique take on rooftop dining!

This K’Nex Challenge is an example of one of the many events that will take place throughout Engineers Week 2016.

Engineers Week 2016 will be officially launched by Mayor Sarah Holland on Monday 29th February. Also in attendance will be Engineers Ireland President Mr. Bill Grimson.
