2018 Business Breakfast
This year’s Business Breakfast was held on Tuesday 27th February at 7am in the Iona Centre, Knocklyon, where guests were greeted on arrival by members of the Knocklyon Network and were given an opportunity to network over breakfast before the Chair’s address.
Unfortunately due to a family bereavement our Chair Eugene Barrett was absent so Vice Chair Julie Kilroy welcomed everyone, and gave a brief account of the Knocklyon Network’s achievements over the past year. Julie then introduced the audience to the line-up for the morning.
Each year, businesses who are listed members of the Knocklyon Network website are given the opportunity to introduce their businesses to our audience. Firstly, Fergus Lowe, from Sherry Fitzgerald Lettings presented, followed by Matt Roche from Rynne Tully Ward. Both of these speakers gave very engaging presentations, outlining how their businesses operate on a day to day basis and providing plenty of facts and figures.
Trevor Higgins, from Clouds Away Parent Coaching and who is also an active member of the Knocklyon Network, delivered an excellent presentation of his business.
Edward Edge who is also a member of the Knocklyon Network, presented Knocklyon Network’s Energy Project. This is one of the biggest undertakings Knocklyon Network has embarked on to-date. Edward, who is the Energy Project Manager and has years of expertise in this field, gave the audience an understanding of the objectives and process of the project. He spoke about our link with the local Community School through the Community Energy project and about Knocklyon Networks’s upcoming local Energy Show which is being held in St Colmcille’s National School on Saturday 14th April at 2pm.
Our guest speaker this year was the Director of Consumer Affairs in the A A, Mr Conor Faughnan. Conor, a local man who gave a highly entertaining talk on all things traffic , travel and environment, followed by Q & A.
Before we concluded, Yvonne Kenny from Sherry Fitzgerald Lettings, on behalf of Knocklyon Network’s Business Members, presented a cheque for €1,000.00 to Niall Brady, President of the local St Vincent de Paul branch, who gratefully accepted.
The meeting concluded with the Vice Chair again, thanking the audience for their support of the Business Breakfast. Thanks also went to our Chair and members of the Knocklyon Network for all their hard work throughout the year. She also thanked Debbie (Manager of the Iona Centre) for the use of the facility and Ken O’Toole from the local Supervalu for sponsoring beverages and food for the event.
