Important Community Updates – Free Bulbs, Ballymount Civic Amenity Pass & Lift Those Leaves

Free pass to Ballymount Civic Amenity for each Social Credits application in the month of October. SDCC will encourage community groups to continue taking positive sustainable actions within their community, particularly at Halloween. And so every Social Credit Applicant will receive a FREE pass to Ballymount Civic Amenity to be used between now and 20th November 2016.
Each pass is valid for one car and one visit only. Please send Social Credit Scheme applications to info@sdublincoco.ie.
And to counter the €2m SDCC spends on cleaning up after bonfires each year, they are offering free daffodil bulbs to community groups, environmental groups, resident associations and schools. Applicants are requested to submit details of their project before the closing date 21st October in order to receive bulbs for planting before Halloween.
Applicants must also nominate the site location for planting and submit photos of the site along with their applications.
Please send your application to info@sdublincoco.ie. The closing date for applications is Friday 21st October 2016. All applications will be dealt with on a first come first served rule.
And finally, the leaves are falling so how do we get them cleaned up?
SDCC has a new system this year:
· Community Clean-ups – request for leaf collection – Where a request is received from a resident’s group for collection of bagged leaves from a pre-arranged community clean up, this request will be processed through the Social Credits Scheme. And the service as requested will be provided if the social credits application is approved.

· Community Clean-up – request for hessian bags for composting – Resident’s groups may also request hessian bags (recycled coffee bags) through the Social Credits Scheme to create their own leaf mould, which is great for gardeners and the environment. This highly beneficial compost can be used in your garden, vegetable plots, container plants, community planting areas or community gardens.

· One off sweeps / non routine request for leaf collection Where any individual wishes to request leaf sweeping or has gathered and bagged leaves from the public footpath or roadway, the Council will endeavour to arrange collection of these bagged leaves in conjunction with the seasonal leaf sweeping operation.

The deadlines are Friday, so make sure you get them in ASAP.
