With the help of our Consultant, Féidhlim Harty, we have identified a number of water amenity and purification features that could be provided at the heart of Knocklyon. Currently, we are working closely with the Parish Council and the Iona Centre.
Meanwhile, our regional Community Waters Officer, Éanna Gallagher, is engaging with South Dublin County Council to provide a more extensive amenity at Spawell Bridge. This would help to purify surface water / road stormwater before it brings pollutants into the Dodder.
Local Authorities Waters Programme www.lawpro.ie are introducing a new all-year Small Grants Scheme which might suit Residents’ or Local Amenity Groups if they wish to consider a small water purifying amenity feature. Ask Éanna by emailing him at egallagher@lawaters.ie.
